Response: Comments As Group Discussions
In response to Craig
Well this is a pretty darn good solution! At the end of each article, where the comments are displayed, I’ve added in the option to Register on this site and post a response as a post!
‘Trusting’, I hear you say. I am. But remember, I can moderate everything.
Each ‘comment’ post is put into my new Comments category so responses stay tracked and separated from my own content. Pingbacks should take care of linking responses to their original posts.
Let me know what you think about this system - by commenting or signing up to respond in full.
Thanks to Ned for writing his, albeit brief, attack on Facebook’s rise in popularity over the last year. He holds pretty much the opposite viewpoint on this subject.
Firstly, I am under the impression that Facebook is turning into Myspace. The popularity of various [and useless] Facebook Apps is creating just more spam.
I hate using Myspace because it is I am inundated with spam and bogus friend requests. Aside from the clunky UI and terrible design, this is the first reason I prefer Facebook.
Why Facebook, why now? is the first article I’d suggest looking at as well as Mashable’s account and Chris Pirillo’s humorous comparison plus Techcrunch on marketing.
Otherwise
Facebook, like Myspace, is just another social-network. If you’re on one you might as well be on the other.
For me, Facebook is better organized and allows me to find out what my friends are up to without too much of an overload. I can set privacy and feed preferences to suit my taste and ignore any friend or app request with one click.
Really, Myspace and Facebook are pretty much the same thing. If everyone I know is using one or the other, I’ll just migrate. I don’t have any real attachment to either. Pick a winner, Ned.
I’m loving “blogalaxy”, and will start using it immediately of that’s OK. [11:01:36]
