Since Twitter tracking has been down for so long I’ve been looking at other ways to track keywords, in particular my username for replies. Here is the easiest and, so far, most responsive solution I’ve found.
You’ll need three things, and these things may be interchangable with their alternatives; however, I find these to be the best options.
1. Set up a dummy Twitter account that you will set mobile notifications for. Anything updated to this profile will shoot to you via SMS. This feature from Twitter still works.
2. Go to your replies tab in your real Twitter account and copy the URL of it’s RSS. It appears at the bottom left of this page. This feed is authenticated, meaning you can’t just plug it into your RSS reader etc.1
3. Create a new feed at Freemyfeed.com with this URL and your Twitter account login details. This site makes an open feed from your authenticated Twitter feed so you can access it publicly.
4. Head over to Easytweets.com and plug in this new feed to update your dummy Twitter account. Easytweets works similar to Twitterfeed but will update feeds clost to immediately, as opposed to every 30 minutes.
Now you have your @replies updating another Twitter profile to which you can receive mobile notifications from. It’s a little long-winded, but works the best for me so far.
